The two best seasons for visiting Darjeeling are from March to May and another is from October to November. These are the two times when the temperature is normally pleasantly cool with a warm breeze and the sky is usually very clear offering lovely site views of Kanchenjunga snow peaks.
There are a number of regular bus service from Siliguri to Darjeeling. But they are too slow due to the steep, twisty climb up to Darjeeling. Another most important modes of transport are shared Jeeps, and taxi usually shared by three or four passengers.
New Jalpaiguri is the nearest major railway station in Darjeeling. From New Jalpaiguri, there are a number of trains to all cities across India.
Darjeeling doesn't have an Airport to itself. The nearest airport is Bagdogra airport, near to Siliguri, which is about 90 kilometres from Darjeeling.
